Thursday already!

The days are flying by. 

Dreary out all day, looks like snow to me but who knows? It's winter. 

Steve went out to visit Mom today for a game of checkers, as you can see Mom has the red ones and she is winning and she did, all games. 

She is serious when it comes to checkers

Mom is sharp and remembers all her family.  She always asks how everyone is.  Steve likes to visit her in between his jobs during the middle of week and it's a good time. 

On his way home he has to have lunch dinner combined at his favorite place, Fire Chicken in Ashland Va.   Wonderful Peruvian Cuisine, made to order.  Always a great staff.   The green sauce is HOT but the yellow is mild.  I like a mix of both.

Peruvian chicken and Prawns with rice was his order today along with his favorite black beans.

Meanwhile at home, he must have forgotten that I had a pot roast in oven with fresh carrots, redskin potatoes and a few celery stalks thrown in for flavor.  I made a gravy to go on top.

We may eat it and if not, it won't be the first time it's been tossed.  Doesn't freeze well with the potatoes. 

Meat has surely gone up in price at the grocery store, way up!

I usually always try to buy from our local farms.

I took this yesterday and it's flowing good in the side yard little creek area. Nice to listen to as I mired down a few inches or more in the over drenched yard to take a video

Mom visit

Thursday November 15.  A Thanksgiving dinner was prepared by the nursing home.  We had a table for our family and it was nicely decorated for the season..  Four family members could attend. I went with Genevieve. My brother and his wife attended.
Mom ate every bite and was happy to have us there as always.  Wanda and Karl stayed to play scrabble as Mom loves scrabble.  She is very good at it also.  Hard to believe she will be 97 on her birthday this month. Her joints work better than mine.

The table was decorated very nice with festive place settings and candles.
I wish my camera had taken better pictures but I only got one or two.
Thursday was a terrible downpour and my car after running through high water started acting up but it got better, thankfully.

Happy Sunday

Saw my Mom yesterday and had a good game of scrabble.  She won, she usually does.

She had a good lunch and then a game.  Karl and Wanda came in before we left and played another game with her.

This is on the wall of the porch where Mom stays.   I like the sentiment and will try to make one for myself.


On the way home I took shots of the beautiful sky through my buggy window that needs a cleaning I see.

Not many more days for the roses to bloom - fall is coming fast.

Steve and I went to visit Mama with Genevieve and Adalyn yesterday. They ran to hug her and chatted with her. Adalyn had to tell her everything she could think of as she can be a chatter. Attentive and kind both of these girls are

 Mama talked and laughed with them and then a game of scrabble she and I had while Opa took the girls to play on the tree swing and enjoy a cup of 
lemonade in the backyard. Tiffany was kind enough to bring them icees too.

Great Grandma

Derek and Miranda took the girls to see Mom today and a sweet picture they took together. They were at Kings Dominion first and it was a choice of a necklace or face painting. Adalyn wanted a necklace and Genevieve asked the nice lady to make her look likce a princess. Both of the the girls are little princesses we all think.

We took her out for a little ride and a frozen strawberry lemonade at Sonic.   So refreshing in this 90 degree heat.
Mom has two great great grandchildren.  Their  parents so far haven't made time for them to see her.   Rare to have a gr gr grandmother.

Mom had a fall and broke her upper arm bone literally in half on the worst snowfall day of the year which was last Saturday.   A ride by ambulance to the emergency room was taken.   Her appointment with the Ortho. doc was not til yesterday the 29th.    On Thursay the 28th , the night before she was taken  by my sister Donna  with severe UTI in which she was very weak from not eating because of nausea.  

What a difference a night of medication makes. She was in very good spirits Friday.    Donna, I and the two grand girls took  her to the Orthopedic doctor ,  she actually enjoyed the get together.   She is 94 and is one strong lady,
  She will have a clam shell cast put on her arm tuesday after swelling has lessened.   She does not want an operationa and neither do any of us as,  at 94 it would be a little too dangerous.

Great grandma and great grandchildren.    Genevieve wouldn't get to close because she was scared of mama's arm being hurt.   She kept watch from a distance.

We hope to get by to visit her tomorrow or Monday,  hopefully tomorrow.

Today I am wearing  my pretty pin and M.M. chiffon scarf given to me by my friend Jennifer,  we have know each other since we were 13 years old.

The pin is a little fuzzy but still pretty and the grape necklace next is a very old vintage piece.

I am posting back to back today,  gotta catch up as I have not been doing much of it lately.
Where mom lives ,  a tree is up and they are decorating with candy canes.  

She made a gingerbread house today too

94 years old and doing so well.   She was smiling a lot today and very talkative.   Very good visit we had.
