Around town and stuff

This morning it was 37 degrees at 7:30.  I was on the porch stuffing Easter eggs.  The sun rising in the distance.  I love mornings like this.

Earlier in the day, on Friday.  In town with G.V. and installation of Secretariats home now on campus of Randolph Macon College.

Little info at the train station across the street from College

On the map where it says "old cold harbor" is where my family was living when I was born.  Very historical area and lots of Civil War history.
Pictures should enlarge even larger when clicked on again.

Few Easter decorations

A few pictures of some decorating. Not a lot but enough.  It's been very crazy weather here as far as being very warm then turning very chilly and in the 30's at night.

Easter is earlier this year, so I didn't get a lot of plants in the ground. They are mostly in pots on the porch.

I do have some volunteer tulips coming up and some that I planted in pots in the ground in fall.  That is the only way I can have them from the moles or voles.

This past Saturday we woke up to lots of rain.  It looked like this, our side yard.

I do believe the slash should be dug out more.  It never comes over the driveway but still I want it dug deeper.

  Like an island

Back to decorations
I made two Easter egg trees.  Tacky glue to two Styrofoam cones.  Then I rolled them in moss from the store.   I cut in half plastic eggs from Hobby Lobby and glued to moss.

Here they are finished.   I put them in little clay pots that I purchased from a local shop, and they are made in Italy.  I like Italian made pots as they hold up, especially for outside. I have some that are heavy and are 10 years old.

I had this little tree that lights forever it seems.  I took some colorful eggs or foam balls and stuck on the ends.  The little picture is one of dried flowers from my yard that I pressed and framed.

Foyer

Purchased glass egg that I placed a bunny and a garden sign in

That is it for now.  I hope to make some Easter bread or something like it.

Mary Shelley lived through hard times in her life.

Wells time machine

Next is Jan Metzinger's shoe machine.
Inventor of Surinamese and Dutch descent
He patented the shoe lasting machine.
Made shoes more affordable and decreased the price.
March 1883, he received a patent for his machine.
The machine held the shoe on a last or a foot form which was made of wood on display at the museum, the leather pulled down around the heel, the nails then driven in.  It had the capacity to produce hundreds of shoes a day. I didn't get exact number.

short video clip of shoe making machine

The light made hard to get good pictures of some things like the not so Fresnel lens here.
Not invented by Fresnel
Genevieve - she said she could hear the ocean inside.
Some interesting facts in the displays

We purchased the collection.

So much more to see and read about but would take too long on my post.
I purchased a steampunk owl picture and a cat, here is only the owl.

Science Museum of Va housed in what used to be Union station of Richmond.
I remember catching I believe it was twice a train for a school trip.  That was a long time ago.

Bye for now.
My ride awaits, husband and car that is.
