Vacation week

Last week started with a visit to Myrtle beach South Carolina to stay a few days with grand girls and Son and his wife.
Was a fine home not far from the beach and the end we stayed on was quiet unlike the south end where all of the shopping mostly is and boardwalk.  Very crowded.   Liked the idea of a short drive there and then back to the peaceful area we stayed.

Kids ready for the sun.

Our bedroom downstairs had this nice living area with t.v. and one upstairs as well.

Tis true for me

early breakfast of cereal

Right after breakfast the girls would hit the pool first with their mom

Nice front porch.  I am on the opposite in the rocker taking pictures.  Beautiful weather the whole time we were here.

My camera was foggy from being in the air condition and not adjusted to the outside air when I snapped this of Steve heading to the beach.  I like the way the picture looks.

Sounds of the beach.  I miss it.

Here the girls find Angel Wings.

A storm was brewing and we were heading back to the golf cart to get to the house in time.  You can see the sky is very dark ahead.  Genevieve is running.

She is running for the cart until she spots another shell and starts coming back.  Not good.

few last sounds

Have more to share later.

That was quite a storm coming in. Always great to spend time at the beach in any weather when with family. Super photos!

Looks like a wonderful family vacation. We love that area. We usually go north of Myrtle Beach to get away from the huge crowds... We'll head back to the beach in December. YEAH!

Hugs,
Betsy

I have heard that is a beautiful beach but I have never been. A few days at the beach right now sounds great although I just went in April....but I do hope to spend at least one day on the beach when I go to Calif. next month. Great pics, looks like you had a really nice time.

I remember storms like that moving in there! Love the beach there so much. June always meant heading to family in the Carolinas first and then on to Myrtle Beach. And the boardwalk and couples dancing the shag that I wanted to learn so badly, and the carnival at night. Do they still have the carnival? And always a trip to the famous gardens down the coast and one night eating at Lee's Kitchen for the very best seafood.

This brought back so many happy memories for me! I know you all had a wonderful time. And glad to see that your beautiful garden thrived while you were gone. I love sunflowers too!

Betsy: Growing up in a beach town I was not fond of the beach. Only to watch the ocean during stormy weather but sharing it with the kids and the girls would be ideal, I think. I do love to hear the ocean so enjoyed your videos. Betsy, I think your header is so beautiful. Did you use picmonkey to edit it, if you don't mind me asking?..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy

I think December would be a wonderful time for the beach. Do you usually stay in a hotel? North is where we were. Loved it.

Thank you Pam. It is a nice beach on the North end especially because it's not as crowded. California beach sounds great. You will have pictures to post I hope.

Thank you so much. I wished we had time to see some gardens and we rode to the boardwalk but it was so crowded that we didn't even park or try to. We didn't want to pay to park for just a quick look see. Everywhere is paying to park. I saw some rides from the strip but couldn't see much further. We couldn't wait to get back to the north end. Sounds like you were at the beaches at a time I would have loved to have seen it more.
We did have a wonderful time. betsy

To me it sounds sort of romantic to grow up in a beach town. I never was around the beach as a child so it sounds so good to me. Ocean sounds are so soothing. Thank you for visiting - Betsy

To me, there is nothing better than vacationing near the beautiful ocean. I love all of your photos. Looks like a great spot and home you had with family. Did the girls get in the ocean? Welcome back home. ♥

Thank You Martha Ellen.
I feel as you do about vacationing near the ocean. I find it so soothing to just listen to the waves crashing to the shore. It helps me focus and collect my thoughts.
The children did get into the water with a very watchful eye of Mom and Dad and Opa. Those waves can turn in a minute. I always hear of a rogue one causing harm to someone. The children love the shell hunting the best as I do too.

How wonderful you got to share beach time with your family! We live just south of where you stayed, in Georgetown. I love seeing your granddaughters enjoying the beach. Quite different from my little ones who were here the same week I think -- four rambunctious boys 4-9. I think the beach is s pretty great place to make memories that will last forever.

We had to miss our annual family gathering at the beach this year (Nags Head is nearer to us). This just made me miss it more. Looks like a fabulous time.
