Early This Morning

My husband and I took my sister to meet her train this morning before 6:00,    Short ride for us and it was a lovely morning.  Best time of day to get things done.

I like how the tracks have brick sidewalk added and much better lighting with rain and wind shelter.
Much more pleasant wait

  1. Nice video, Betsy! Was she on the Northeast Regional train? We've taken it to visit our daughter that lives in New Hampshire. I'm sure you enjoyed your visit with your sister. It's so nice she could come for a visit. Happy November!

    1. Hi Martha, She took the Northeast Regional from here to Boston Ma. South station and then the bus from there to Maine where her husband picked her up to home in Guilford.
Do you enjoy the train ride to your Daughter's home? I have taken the train to Colorado and had a sleeper car but it was such a long trip. The quiet car on the train my sister took was not quiet. People were very loud and obnoxious at times. That needs to be addressed on these trains. Betsy

    2. Betsy, I'm afraid I'm not a good train traveler, either. We took the train to our daughter's home in NH once. She loves the train, but not me. It is long!!! We took the train from Seattle, Washington to Fredericksburg. It took 3 days and I must say I couldn't sleep as it was so shaky and loud. We had a roomette for the leg between Seattle to Chicago and then a room to DC. It was not a pleasant experience for us other than the beautiful scenery. We used to take the train to NYC, but I think I'm going to pass on that now. Maybe I'm too old!!

    3. You are not too old. It just seems like it takes forever. The roomette makes for a not so pleasant sleep for me. It picked up speed at nighttime, I felt like I was going to hit the floor when the conductor decided to pour the coals to it as they used to say to make up time then for the lag during the day. Stopping to hitch to the mail train, slowing down so many times it seems for towns it goes through. I like it when they stop and we can get off a minute to stretch our legs but that is just to let people on or off. We have taken it to Fredericksburg near Christmas before, had dinner, shopped some and then came home. We enjoyed that.

  2. Dearest Betsy,
How fortunate for having a train station nearby and being travel all the way from Maine to Virginia.
We don't have anything like that here...
Sure, back in The Netherlands it was excellent for traveling by train!
Always sad to part... but you no doubt indulged in every minute.

    1. We are about 7 minutes or about 2 miles from where the train is caught. Good to be nearby that is for sure. I am ready for a trip myself to somewhere. Hugs, Betsy
