Up early to can a few jars of apple butter with apples from Paughs orchard. We go there every year for apples but sad to find out from him that this year he is selling his property. Ready to let it go and relax more. We sure will miss this journey to the orchard every year.
Made apple butter with some of them.
I used brown sugar and very little because I like the tartness of the apples more than sweet.
Cardamom, grated nutmeg, cinnamon and little ginger. The mixture cooked all night in crock pot and I canned this morning.
Had to have a cup of strong coffee with some frothed milk
Coming home last night after a few things to pick up from Home Depot, I notice the clouds shaped like a dragon. Yes, I am a cloud watcher.
This morning the zinnias are still blooming pretty
Now I think I may make an apple cake. Be good for dessert as I am making chicken and dumplings for dinner.

Oh, it has been years since we visited an apple orchard. Actually, it was in the 90's and mama was still living. We carried her to the mountains of NC and went to the Apple Festival in Waynesville. That was fun. Your apple butter sounds delicious, and looks so pretty. That cup of coffee sure looks good too.
Your apple butter sound delicious and so nice to see it packed in jars. The variety of spices were a delight and sound so tasty. I like to watch the clouds too, the way they mass in the skies are a joy.

I like canning apple butter for toast. It cooks down to nothing and I always end up with less jars to fill than previously though. I must make more.

I am so jealous of your zinnias...Mine were gnawed right down to nothing by some unknown insects....We have had frost on the cars now for 3 mornings in a row but not on the flowers so my annuals are still surviving...Thanks so much for stopping by!! Answer to your question...No, none of those pink boxes are powder boxes....

We went this afternoon to an orchard near Yellow Springs, Ohio, that has a self-picking option for apples. They were very busy, unbelievable numbers of families there. Of course, our 12 year decided to have a tantrum so we left without apples. (insert sad face here!). Was a lovely afternoon for country drive in Ohio.
So good to hear families out picking apples and having a good time. I have found that my childrens best behavior was up until they turned about 11 or 12. They seem to get only worse when they get older. I remember those tantrums and it's no fun. Will get better as they age though. I did get a chuckle when I first read your post. I know those days.
