It's Tuesday

Out earlier as it was cooler and much nicer than yesterday.  Mosquitoes still bad.
Through our jalousie porch you can see the sunflowers coming up really well.  I have patio tomatoes with red peppers planted in the tall planter.  There are carrots in there too. Will see how they fare along with some Okra.

Froggy among the begonias and Lavender playing his trumpet

The leaves are large.  I have pulled these things out every year to thin but they are persistent.  Come winter, one would never know they grew here.

Sweet frog hiding in the lettuce.

Every time it rains,  these nasturtiums grow an inch or so more it seems and flower

I think this color combination is what I really like.  It pops

These flowers will go in my salad today. Love their peppery taste. Actually the taste reminds me creasy salad,  as we say here.

Cukes coming in.  More I pick the more they grow.

Hanging on our porch.  Just because Steve liked it and here it is.
Will take a few more hot days,  but the oregano will be up in no time

The only turtle I want to see in my yard.  They send chills for some reason when I see them hiding in the grass or on our front porch.

I read that sometimes the small cukes like the one pictured has not been pollinated.

I guess you can see where I am going with this.  I have about 30 more to color.  Will share if they turn out like I want when I finish crafting with them.
Happy Tuesday

  2. Happy Tuesday, Betsy. Today was a beauty wasn't it? We have the windows open enjoying the fresh air. Your cucumbers and salad plants sure will be delicious for dinner. I'm wondering about your painted pine cones... I like your husband's starfish piece--very nice reminder of the ocean and summer time. Have a nice evening. ♥

    1. This little plant is producing and with all of the rain, they seem to like it. I hope I can make this pine cone craft look decent. If I do, I will post a picture.
Gosh Tuesday was a wonderful day. I should have opened my windows.

  3. Dearest Betsy,
That tiny cucumber is the result of the bees having pollinated the flower before. It falls off because of rot...
My Dad grew commercially cucumbers in the field and gherkins and English cucumbers in the greenhouse so I'm quite familiar with them! We grew them here in Georgia for many years and I pickled them but we quit doing veggies. Too much work and often in vain. Your climate looks so much better as everything looks lush and green!
Enjoy the nasturtium, love them too. In Italy they also fry them as a delicacy. I ate them in many ways...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  4. Thanks Mariette. I did read here that this is another reason for turning yellow and falling off.

    1. Dearest Betsy,
Those are all hobby sites with 'little' gardeners answering and writing about their ideas. Believe me, this is not the same as commercial market growers - not a very scientific site.
Good news is that I came back from my orthopedic surgeon and I am allowed to go biking again. Healing will continue and I am not allowed to jog or pounce or whatever. SO happy!
      Hugs,
      Mariette
