It's Summer

Month of June is just about gone.  Rainy here the next few days off and on but that's o.k.
My sister and her husband came for a visit and we rode to Bath County.  Had a lunch at a little restaurant which was nice.   Things are opening as they should be.

Gorgeous view over the mountains at Dan Ingalls over look

Little hard to read the marker here but here is a link →to historical markers

We took the little day trip with my  sister and brother in law

On our way and a stop as we looped around to get back home.  I like how it's not overly populated here and people are friendly, no rudeness.  I wish I could talk my husband into having a place here.

Jefferson Pools are just about ready to collapse, sad to say.

Pretty little church in the area.

Brother in law, husband and sister

Omni Homestead not open but getting ready it looks to be.   We are talking about staying a few nights here.  Pretty area.

spending a few nights here after opening is on our to do list.

I need some geraniums. The red ones here are just so deep red.

A peek into the windows.  I love the urns sitting on that fireplace.
re opening on June 29th.

Lynn - visit from Maine

My sister came to visit from Maine and especially so to see Mom as much as possible.
We took a drive  to Warm Springs Va. while here.  Little genealogy hunting at the courthouse there and then lunch.
Few pictures of the trip.
Beauty of a day for a mountain drive.

Virginia is beautiful and to me especially in this area.

Jefferson Pools, used to be called "warm spring pools" name change in the 20th century.  Part of the Homestead now - a resort hotel.

Sound of the water rushing.  I wished I had put my hand into it to see if it was warm... Looks like an old outhouse in the short distance behind it.

Looks like an out house

Inside the courthouse in Warm Springs posing on top of files were some of the locals I guess that lived in this area.

We found a marriage certificate of our great grandmother and another document.  Nice place with such friendly people.

Love this beautiful area and would love to have a small summer or winter cabin.  Bath county is just beautiful all year round.

Here is a beauty of a home that is made entirely from stone.

I just thought this was an interesting hairy looking tree, that's all.

Pretty Presbyterian church on the hill.
Pretty bell tower.
The brick has faded with time in color  into a pretty pink.

Information in the gazebo at the Pools.  I think I may have to see the art show this year.

On the way home and not sure where this is exactly.
All stone church with another pretty bell tower.

driving around this area taking in the beauty

Mountain visit (3)

Visit to Clifton Forge.
A town in Allegheny county Va..
Straight ahead is the town hall

Old cemetery on side of the hill

Fine old homes in the town.   Many in need of some TLC.

there was a sign on one street that stated a Revitalization Project going on in the town.  Good to see that.

We were hoping for nicer weather since it is Spring to be able to get out and check out some of the little shops but maybe next trip.

Would have been even nice to be able to get a shot with out the power lines running so heavy across the street.

We are leaving with a view of the town.

Looks like an old four square home that caught my eye.

going back

You can see the green on the tree limbs. Maybe Spring is arriving here.

A short video heading up mountain and arriving in Town of Clifton Forge.
I need to visit the Forge here on the next visit for sure.
