I did take some pictures of flowers that bloomed for the first time like my dahlias I planted from seed the last week in June. First time I planted from seed. A surprise when they bloom to see the color and type of flower I will have since the packet was of a mixed variety.
This one is in a small hanging basket at the entrance to the driveway, I will not bother it now as it to will bloom soon.

I scattered the seeds of the white zinnias and they are growing like weeds.

A couple of finches and a bluebird (wish I had my camera ready at the time) were tearing at the sunflower this morning

I like this edition as it looks aged by it's yellowed pages and have dark edges
Edith Holden wrote and illustrated this book while living in a small village of Olton in Warwickshire England
All of her words are written by her hand along with her favorite poems,
paintings of birds , flowers , butterflies etc. are on every page
A pleasure it is to read her thoughts of her surroundings of home and travels through England and Scotland.

she mentions on facing page that the rain has been continuous in Scotland , although in England it has been one of the sunniest months on record.

Hi Betsy, I have enjoyed your photos of flowers very much and also enjoyed your review on Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I bought this book many years ago and still take it off the shelf to look at it.
I think my copy of Country Diary has probably yellowed with age. I was in high school when I bought that book, and just treasured it for years, dreaming about the gardens that I would have.
