Sunday

Today is a beautiful sunny day.  Breezy too.  Love days like this.

A little catch up from last week, starting with the storm we had,

not too bad right at my home but the grand girls didn't leave school until 4:00 p.m.

Thursday due to tornado warnings.  There was a cloud forming at the bus depot not far from their school but thankfully didn't touch down.

We had warnings to take shelter but I needed first a quick look outside.
listening for the sound of a train, but we live not so far from train tacks so that didn't really do any good.   Anyhow all was well and there were a few touches down, but no one was hurt.

I found a recipe from elementary school days on Pinterest for pourable crust pizza.  We used to have it with hamburger in the sauce with cheddar cheese on top (my favorite) or a white cheese. Sometimes with sausage sprinkled on the cheese.  So good.  They used to make all the food in those days and it was so much more tasty and better than the stuff they serve now.
Fudgies were a popular dessert.  My school, Short Pump elementary had the best lunches for us in those days.  Mom made them for us at home too.
Oatmeal, peanut butter sometimes was added, cocoa, butter and I don't have the recipe in front of me to remember the rest.  Mostly on pizza day they were served.  Will have to make some and post.

A fast dessert I threw together in prepared pie crust strawberry gel found in refrigerator section, fresh strawberries and blackberries. If I had anymore berries on hand I would have used those too.
I added a little flour and cinnamon to the mixture.  popped in the oven.
I added more cinnamon on top afterward, that is what the brown powder is on top.  We love cinnamon.

Got  little too close with this one but here it is of what is left not  eaten before I took a picture.

So far outside

Dogwood is starting to show color in front yard
Patio bunnies
I found these bunny pot stands at a place in the mountains few years ago for a dollar.

only bud on this white lilac that I moved a few months ago.
Ignore the fence.  Haven't finished with it yet.

I know I am pushing my luck with this boxwood in this pot.  It's been about 6 years now.
Strawberry bed did not have this many plants last year.  They are growing out over the area around them.  There are blooms on them today as this picture was taken a week ago.
Some things I picked up at a gift and vintage shop a few weeks ago
These little easter figures I have since placed on a little tree which I hope to share soon.  I don't do a lot of decorating but some for the grandchildren.
spice pear butter and some cute little birds and prayer cards I keep on the table where we eat.  I like reading one every day.

beautiful sky as we were heading out of our road for fish dinner at cracker barrel on Friday the 1st.

Dearest Betsy,
Oh, the breezy weather will linger for a while, we just biked and although sunny and warm, also very breezy.
LOVE your cute bunny pot stands; what a score to find them for that price.
Your entrance looks so nice, lovely home.
Scary at times with sudden tornado warnings but at times it is exaggerated.
One wonders how tiny birds with their nests manage to survive nature with its twists...!
Food is always interesting.
Hugs,
Mariette

Happy Sunday Mariette, There were several touch downs and one in Chesterfield county. The birds started really chirping when the wind picked up and then quieted quickly. I guess they were sending a message to others. I saw a cardinal in a tree looking over at the tree he just flew out of. Strange. Thank you for visiting and your compliment on my home. It seems all we do is weed. Hugs, betsy

I loved lunches at our elementary school. My favorite was the vegetable soup. I think I remember a hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, too. And chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. I am shocked when I look at the school menu for my grandchildren these days. Pizza, Chicken Nuggets, French Toast Sticks, Pizza sticks, Popcorn Chicken, Nachos. It is like a fast food menu!!!

We had hamburger steak and mashed potatoes too. Everything was real. Like you said, they serve nothing but fast food today. The children get free breakfasts this year, I forget the reason but my grandaughter said they are not allowed butter or syrup. Crappy if ya ask me. I am hoping they will home school when it's time for middle school. The school they go to now is fine, but not the middle school. Adalyn has one more year at the elementary. I like how there are co ops and I am hoping I am saying it right, for homeschoolers. Science Museum, VMFA and more offer plenty for homeschoolers. Will have to see.

Betsy, your garden always has something pretty and interesting growing and that pie sounds delicious. How scary to be awaiting a storm like that. I would have a big fear of them but waiting for an earthquake is scary to me too. Glad it didn't really materialize..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

Happy to hear you didn’t get the tornado. We had a warning last week also. I have heard about this sound of a train but thankfully have only heard them at an actual train track. The pourable pizza looks so good! I’ve been hankering to make a pizza from scratch lately. Paul Newman helped the other day with the frozen one, ha! Wouldn’t say no to those fudgies. At my school we did not have school lunches, always walked home for lunch but I think it was the way it was done back in those days, for my school anyhow. Your strawberry dessert would have been a real treat. Yum! Great photos Betsy, and enjoyed looking around your lovely home.

Hi Denise Love homemade pizza. I think it sounds so neat to be able to walk home for lunch from school, what a good break to have during school day and a good lunch at home. Thank you for visiting.
