Birds sound very happy today

Ice ,snow, rain or whatever the moment brings.  We've had a little of all three.

  1. Dearest Betsy,
Guess it must be dating season for the birds as I've noticed the same here, yesterday they were so happily chirping and singing.
We have had rain and wind, and nippy weather. Frost will come on Tuesday.
And believe it or not, two Japanese magnolia blossoms are almost fully open and other buds on the way. I'm afraid with some more frost later in the week, they might turn brown and fall off!
Nature can be cruel at times...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Hi Mariette, It must be dating season as they chirped all day it seems. Sorry but not a huge fan of the Cardinals in spring as they butt my windows. Makes me think of that bird movie. Very aggressive birds. It is sickening to look forward to flowering of the shrubs and trees only to have the frost nip off the buds. Happened to a few shrubs of mine last year.
I bet some of your buds will survive for you to enjoy. My son had to put cloth over his peach tree to keep the frost off last year. Nature can be cruel at times just like you say. Hoping your week will be a good one and maybe there will not be frost in your area, I am hoping you will not have it. Hugs, betsy

  3. I hope your weather has improved by now. The birds seem to enjoy this weather. Before our snow here in Western North Carolina, the robins flocked to our yard. Stay warm!

    1. Our weather has improved, today it was in 50's. Getting much cooler now. We are supposed to have snow flurries Thursday and Friday. I am glad we did get some good snow this year. Betsy

  4. I enjoyed your video Betsy, so nice to hear those birds chirping. Always think the snow is pretty to look at but remember driving in it which can be scary. I haven't done any snow driving for some time now. Happy New Year!

    1. Those birds ate every last berry on that tree. As soon as the snow starts, I have to get out and drive in it. I love watching it come down while driving. Happy New Year to you Denise!
