Saturday night rain and Sunday drive

Quite a bit of rain came in on Saturday night.

The little slash of a creek was over loaded and came close to the large azalea in the yard.  Never gets much closer and the driveway is on higher ground so not much to worry about there.

Rain stopped, water subsided quickly.

Next day, our Sunday drive to anywhere, same route it seems when we have no particular place in mind to go.  Bar be que exchange in Gordonsville Va. is where we stop if hungry going through this area.  There was a long line and we didn't want to wait.

L&J's Bar be que, a caterer in Gordonsville Va was set up for dinner at the Gordonsville Antique Mall.  We stopped and had a great meal, so delicious!  Will stop here again coming into the area for sure.

Steve had ribs

I had the bar be que and we shared the potato salad which was just a healthy serving and couldn't eat all of it.

Great smoked baked beans!

Good to see people out enjoying themselves and lots of smiles.

Into the sunset back home.

Ah yes, our rainbow right as we turn into the road to our neighborhood.

Til next time, Betsy

Dearest Betsy,
Glad you and Steve enjoyed a lovely outing with good food.
Sure, our creeks can change in no time but it recedes quickly once the rain stops.
We biked yesterday our longest ever ride. For quite a while I'd talked about biking to a certain crossing where our late friend took Mom & Dad and both of us on April 26, 2001. So we finally went, after I planned a trip outside the busy highways. But it turned out to be a full 30 miles but lovely weather at only 86 F.
Hugs,
Mariette

Glad you are on higher ground. We have a creek across the road but our house is elevated also. We are due for a lot of rain this week, and thunderstorms, and we have already been getting high-pitched warnings on our phones and iPads about flash floods as it rained some last week also and over the weekend. Your Sunday road trip sounded nice. We have been through Gordonsville and next time we go we will be sure to check out these barbecue places :) Have a great week Betsy!

Just like you I have been getting warnings of flash floods etc.. It's raining all day off and on. Stay away from trees right now, our ground is pretty well saturated at the moment and with more rain I expect to hear some fall in the woods. We had some
big ones removed from the yard, about 7 or more in the past few years and now so glad we did.

This rain is so unusual for summers here, isn't it? We have flood warnings as well but are thankful to live on higher ground. We need to try your spot in Gordonsville, Betsy. I think you mentioned it before. Have a happy week!

Oh my gosh - those ribs! And your sides remind me of a bbq booth at a local fair. I can't remember the name but it was run by an older black woman who sat at a picnic table and directed her nieces and nephews who worked the booth. It was some of the best food I ever tasted. Baked beans, potato salad, green beans with bacon and coleslaw - we would each get different sides so we could share them. Glad to hear your water can't reach your house!

Oh yes the green beans had bacon. we always do the same and that is get different sides and share. So much fun to be out in the good weather and enjoy life as much as we can. Thank you for visiting. Betsy

Hello Mariette, An impressive distance. A variety of sites to see I am sure. Areas we fly by in a car you got to take in while going by slowly. I wish I could ride like you and Pieter do. Hugs, Betsy
