Happy Sunday

Earlier this morning out with coffee.  Can feel September coming on.  Gosh this year will be gone before we know it.
Flowers are prettier now that it is not as beastly hot.
This beautiful Rose of Sharon.  Flowers are larger than most I have seen.

My sister pulled up a sprout of it from her yard and placed in Swan planter.
Well it stayed there about a season.  The shrub grew through the planter and I took a chance on pulling it out which luckily didn't make too big of a hole in the planter.  We put it in the front yard almost two summers ago and it took off.  Very hardy.

Now I will try and root another from this.

This miniature rose from last February purchased at Valentines day is growing very well

Chive blossoms I picked and placed in white vinegar for about a week turned it pink. It has a floral onion flavor which I mist on salad.  Children even like it.   The florets from the chives turned the vinegar a pretty pink color

Owl I purchased Steve for his Birthday was flapping his wings in the breeze this morning.

I pureed some strawberries last week with sugar.  1 pint half and half, 1  pint whipping cream and about a pint or little less of whole milk with some natural strawberry flavoring.  I threw in a little malted milk powder.  Churned in ice cream freezer.  Turned out creamy .

A short video of this morning I took of the gorgeous clouds and a bird flying over the holly tree watching her nest.

Now to catch up with some blogs I have not visited this past week.  Behind on everything it seems lately.
Happy Sunday

Happy Saturday

Yesterday was rainy.  Just about all day.  Being children they could not sit in the house all day.
Opa brought out some beach chairs and put up the garage doors.  Snacks of cashews and fruit were enjoyed.  They rain watched and talked about lot's of different subjects.

Thursday I picked a tomato, basil and rosemary to make a tart.

I sautéed onions also to go on top with some mushrooms I had in the refrigerator.
I made the crust from flour, little salt, olive oil, milk and I threw in a little baking soda and an egg.
worked out really well.

my rustic tart.  very tasty. I sprinkled parmesan on top.

Tomatoes I planted this year is called   Mortgage Lifter.  I ordered seeds from Burpee and started my own.   They do better for me this way.  I put calcium in with the dirt along with fertilizer and I had not one bit of blossom end rot.  I usually do but not this year .. Calcium helped.  Indeterminate tomatoes I like the best to plant.
One of the tomatoes I picked off was very large and a slice covered a slice of  bread for sandwich.

Picked some flowers and one was from my Rose of Sharon

Back in at lunch yesterday, Genevieve likes candles lit while eating.

I purchased purple spray paint for my butterfly chair.

Finished it.

Good Saturday all

Get away for 3 days

We took the grand girls with us for three nights and four days to Northern Neck of Va.
First two nights in Kilmarnock and visiting the nearby areas to see if we may like it more to come back to.
It was nice and we enjoyed our time but two nights here were enough.

White Stone Beach
A very hot day and the sand burned the feet but the girls pressed on and found treasures

Outside eatery in town

Lobby of hotel.  I took this picture because I like the retro looking mirror

We had dinner one evening at the Sandpiper restaurant in White Stone

Off to Colonial Beach for a stop on the way home and some thrift shop stops.
First a stop at a bakery along the way I believe it was Montross.
Double lemon, raspberry, banana and maple bacon.

Small but well appointed baths

Walk to beach is easy from the River View Inn.  A fine redecorated Hotel from the 50's I believe

I took this because I do like the gazebo.  B and B.

North End

A little play with the picture

This lot here is for sale.  Not looking forward to seeing what will happen to it.  Probably a hi rise hotel of sorts or condo to block views of bldgs. that have been here for ages.  Every thing changes.

soon will be gone I guess.  Nice little vintage motel people loved.  Clean and friendly owners.

In the town.  These are grape vines growing on the fence.

Night time walk and children play acting

Happy Sunday

Nothing nicer than to be greeted by these blooming beauties.

Few red peppers I picked from a plant that I grew in a large pot this year and it's still producing.  I grew all from seeds  and they did much better.

Now out to take care of much needed chores.

Sunday visit

Beautiful breezy August 2.  Next few weeks our fence and brick wall will come down.  I have to move some flowers and roses.   We will be making way for a patio and doors from porch to access it.   We need that.   I will miss the wall and the fence.  I think it suits the surrounding and house, but we do need an exit and a place to sit grill and some garden chairs.

Tomatoes are ripening

cukes growing on fence.

Lots to move

I will be back to check on other blogs I have not visited in a while.  I miss seeing what others are up to.   A quick post here this morning and then off.

A chair calling my name and with coffee in hand.  I wish all a Wonderful Sunday!
