Rainy Days and Rainy Nights

Rain and more rain this past week end and more thunderstorms to come today.   Grass will be  a foot tall before I get to it.   Pretty and green I must say.
I picked a couple  tomatoes, okra pods and squash.   The crook neck squash is my favorite.  It doesn't seem to have as much water and it's more flavorful..
The sunflowers have just turned to giants and the stalks are huge.

I have to support the stalk because the flowers are so heavy.
 beautiful!

looking around, the portulaca or moss rose as I call it is a volunteer from last year.

I saw this under the lilac so I pulled it up about a month ago to put in pot for replanting.

Carrot seeds sprouting.

Okra

more squash

I picked the tomatoes along with a cuke

I cut up squash with onion, little pepper.  I place a couple of chicken bouillon cubes in the pot with just a little splash of olive oil and dill.

In my electric pressure cooker I set it for 6 minutes.
 I had it for dinner

Oh yes,  I do love dill as you can see.

Oregano finally looking good.  Takes a good while for this to take off.

moonflower running up the string to the door top.

Pee Gee hydrangea blooming away in the pot

Through the weeds you see the red hydrangea I have had for years and it's been dug up and moved several times.  One day it will bloom I hope

sunset

Gorgeous cloud formations this evening as the sun was setting.  I couldn't help but noticing how beautiful they were.   I watched for a while.

Typo in the date.  I meant for it to read 7, 2018 and not 702018.  I had to clarify.

Happy Weekend

Happy Saturday

Early this morning walk around the yard to water and pick whatever may need picking and I found a couple squash with a few flowers to enjoy.

I like a single stem in a pretty glass container.  This container is an empty wine bottle sitting in the kitchen window.

The seed packet said that these would get about 5 feet. No way, these things are at least 8.  This is looking out of my upstairs dining room window with the lilac behind that will need to be moved.

Hibiscus on the fence.
I took this yesterday and you can see where the beetles got to the blooms.

On my way home from shopping is a beautiful cornfield at the road I live.   I hope I can see this for a long time.  Such nice farms around with open land for some good crops.  I hope it never changes.

Not exactly the fabric I wanted but it is upholstery fabric and on sale which means a lot and I like it o.k.  for an ottoman in the den.

Well off to start measuring and sewing.

Sunday Drive

Such pleasant weather this past Sunday got us out for a short drive to Gordonsville Virginia.   One of our favorite eateries is here and it's called the Barbeque exchange.  Great food and it's Steve's go to Barbeque place.
Walking the town and window shopping as I like to do on a Sunday in small towns.  Maybe 3 or 4 shops were open but that's o.k., we enjoy window shopping on days like this. I will be back to do some Christmas shopping.  Some things in one of the windows caught my eye.
The French restaurant called Pomme as you see on the sign above was closed.   Will have to dine here sometime.
A peek inside the window of one of the tables set for dining.

Here is a shop with some childrens toys.

Boxes of flowers on the sidewalks

I think they look pretty good for fake flowers and they keep their color

fence with a planter and these are real

I like these pink planters and I think I will be changing the color of mine to this color.

A string pulled up so the vine can grow up along side the window

Nice tub of succulents

Pretty decorative painting around this shop

 another shop painted decoratively

Nicely framed print.

I would really love to have these sections of fence.  Just don't see these around many places for purchase.

across the street is this pretty little park area

We sit a spell before heading home

Pleasant sound of water trickling at this fountain

Happy Tuesday
