Happy Tuesday

Today almost 70 degrees, tomorrow rain.  We'll see, if not then a trip to Lewis Ginter is in order to see deocorations before they are taken down for the Season.

I  pulled from a pot on patio some carrots, forgot the name of them but they are supposed to be little lilke this.  I will plant some more as I see they did pretty well.

I like saving the tops for soups and salads. Takes a while for them but they are worth it.

My lavender I have shaped like a topiary is doing well and always does in pots.  Strawberries in containers around the yard are looking good also

I made a recent post and it's the last post on Christmas blog for the season
Check it outπŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰Here

  3. Rainy and 65 deg. F. forecast here. I enjoyed looking at your carrots and lavender topiary. Must be very rewarding harvesting them. I didn't know you could eat the leaves of the carrots. Thanks Betsy and Happy New Year!.

    1. They are sweet little carrots. Yes, the tops are good cut up in soups and spaghetti. Anything really. Dried too.

  4. Those carrots are outstanding! We were in the 60's today in Northern Ohio (crazy) but I hear the temperatures are headed down, way down. Christmas weekend we were in the "feels like" minus category so it is no wonder everyone I know has the sniffles.

    1. The carrots do well all winter in pots. I never knew they would really. Winter I guess will get here sometime. I hear maybe freezing rain next week. I would much rather have snow to drive in. Winter has only been less than a month, so I am thinking end of January we'll get some snow.
Same here with sniffles. Can't get around it but luckily getting through it pretty fast. Most have had colds and now over them. Well wishes sent your way for you and your family, Betsy

  5. I like the idea of trimming a Lavender in topiary form. I must try it. Carrots in Winter, they look delicious. I looked at your Christmas decorations, very nice inside and out. Happy New Year.

    1. Hi Thelma, The lavender plants are strong and grow pretty fast with trimming. I love these baby carrots and they love the chilly weather that's for sure. Thank you for compliments on my Christmas decorations and visit. Happy New Year Wishes, Betsy

  6. We had a terrible below zero freezes around Christmas and I think it did my herbs in. I have babied my rosemary for several yrs but I think it bit the dust then.

    1. It hasn't hit zero freezes here but so far with the cold we've had the potted rosemary and lavender are doing well. I have had them covered in snow and ice. They turn brown and ugly but then perk up in spring. I have my potted ones outside near the boxwoods and maybe that helps or maybe I am just pushing my luck. I hope they continue to do well.

    1. These do wonderful in pots. The dirt is soft and crumbly like crumbled cake, only way I can describe it. They grow straight down in it really well.
