Another hot one

Stayed in mostly today except for watering plants.  The temp gauge in den read almost 99 degrees Fahrenheit.   That is in the shade here at 4:30 p.m.

\

Outside things are still looking pretty good.  It rained really well for a short period yesterday evening.
Looking ahead to my hibiscus my sister gave me in a pot 4 years ago.  It's been in the ground for two seasons.
We always called this plant "Rose of Sharon".

Butterflies are loving the zinnias in front of house

I see a dragonfly in motion right behind the butterfly.

Had to get a close up of this one as it's my favorite color in variation.

Not sure of the type or color name this go round but several years ago when I purchased these seeds, the package said vintage and that was it.

Girls on the porch making Christmas in July, well that's what I call it.  I printed them off paper houses that they colored and then attached to heavy card stock and went to town with it.  Snow, snow man, glitter etc...
This one is Genevieves

Genevieve embellished with all she could find.  Adalyn decided to do the same.  I think they are so pretty and sparkly.
Genevieve had to have a gravel walkway and she made one too.

This one is Adalyn's, she had to have a garage with hers.  They both made arches with pipe cleaners in front of the houses. I thought that was pretty creative.
After that, they went to my Christmas stash in the garage and borrowed they say, my village characters and glued them on.  They had a good time.

Adalyn busy working on hers.

Finished with her garage too.

Good evening all and stay cool!

Water view

Where has the time gone?  Time to pull out dead vegetable plants and get the yard in order.
Some much needed work around the house is on the agenda.  Little painting to be done,so I will be busy the next month.
Monday was such a nice day and we spent it quietly.  We took a drive to the beach and did checkout a few antique shops.
Was not much of a breeze at the beach so we didn't do much walking.
I did take a few pictures.
The cloud formations are just so beautiful.

Love this mural on someone's garage

A little clip of the water at colonial beach

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Shamrocks made by Genevieve (4) with a marshmallow stamp at the library.  A craft done after story time about St. Patrick"s Day.

It's hanging on back door with the welcome sign of pineapple collage Adalyn made at church.

An outing

Taking care of business in the city and taking the two grand girls with us.
After we finished we took them for a hot dog at Sproots. Richmond's  Churchill is where it's located.    Hot dogs dressed just about anyway you like'm.

Steve has been here several times, he gets a taste for hot dogs and this is his place to go.   Dogs, soda and desert.
Addy ate a dog with mustard for her to dip it in,  she likes dipping.

Genevieve had a bite of my hot dog but wanted her sausage bites battered and fried with fries like Adalyn dipped in mustard and some ketchup.
She has to look them over first

they were good,  Steve had his favorite Bratwurst.

Me,  I had my hot dog with onions and sauerkraut - my favorite

Of course house made fruit drinks.   Grapefruit - basil - elderberry flavor is what Steve likes the best and now I do.

Little Adalyn

on the patio for their chocolate ice cream and they both wear  everything they eat well.
Check out that old building in the background,  guess it's being renovated or something close to it.

Genevieve cannot get enough of that juice she is drinking
Must check that flavor out

Both enjoyed seeing the city and so many huge buildings.   Adalyn always interested and asked a million questions about any and everything,  hope we answer them well enough.  Like to see her interested.
Heading home from Church hill

On the way home we passed Opa's work place , the tower on the left.  They liked seeing that.
I love downtown and would like to live in the city again.  My grand mother lived there when I was much younger and I enjoyed spending week ends there.

Pulling into the drive , flowers that the heat haven't finished drying up are looking just o.k.

The doors to replace the old worn ones on our porch have arrived and hopefully can be placed tomorrow.

Floor tile - I like it because it has a texture and looks like stone
digi tile porcelain

Everything ready to go,  now I hope they workers can get it done with in a week

The old cement slab where the out door carpet was ripped off
glad to see that mess go and even gladder when I don't have to look at the floor like it is now

Adalyn and Genevieve

Today was actually very nice - around 60 degrees, but tomorrow is supposed to snow about 1 - 3 inches,  so probably will be a half a foot.   It's never what the weather people call for.
Visiting my grandchildrens home today with Adalyn in her car Santa brought her.
Here she is,  driving with no hands.

Her favorite passenger ,  Pepper who doesn't mind the ride, although I think he does get a little nervous with her at the wheel.

Genevieve with her coat on as I was going to walk her outside to feel the sunshine while it lasts.

She was three months old Jan. 18th,    sweet baby

I am always admiring this carved heavy door as I leave.  It was on the house when they bought it so I don't know any history or where it came from.   It is heavy and nicely carved.
