Mom Birthday 93

Yesterday - November 23rd was Moms birthday,  she is 93 and is looking and doing very well.
We had b'day dinner at the Four Seasons in Powhatan Va.   on old Buckingham road in the villiage.
I wish I had taken a picture of the food as it looked so good and was so delicious!!!
Mom and Karl

Donna and Keith

I wished I had even thought about taking a picture of the dessert slices

Mom had coconut cake - her favorite

Steve and I had carrot cake
The thick frosting layer in the middle is like a cream cheese cake with wonderful flavor

This strawberry with large thick pink layer of cream cheese cake the color and flavor of strawberry

one whole cake cost $80.00 dollars.   I won't be taking one home ,  I would love to but too expensive for me.
We had a wonderful time.

Days of fall

I took the following pictures last week.

Leaves on the tall oaks are turning - finally

I think that blowing them into the woods is a better idea

looking through the boxwoods on front steps

Last of the vivid orange zinnias.  I will plant many more of them next year.   They seem to do the best here as far as growth and color.

Tea rose with a few buds to open

Nasturtiums love the cooler weather

And I love them in a salad

Til next time - Happy Sunday everyone

Acorns anyone?

Vintage things

A drive to "Deep Creek Vintage" store in Fredericksburg Va. just to look around and usually I always bring something back with me.
Multi vendors here in this circa 1790's manor house.    Lots of rooms and lots of good items on display.  I will be going back on the 8th for their open house and see if there are any Santa's for me to purchase,  I like tucking them here and there at home.

Looks like rock has been glued to the pedestal ,  like this.

I like the angel on this dresser,  but a little to dark for me.
I usually put Christmas on my Christmas blog,  but it was a mix of Halloween,  Thanks giving and Christmas so I place it all on here.   Pretty paper rose wreath,  I think the shade of green is particularly pretty.

This would like nice as  center piece on a Thanksgiving table

Spraying gold for Christmas is a good idea
plastic canvas gingerbread house ,  I've not made anything with that for years

Halloween decorations

Grandchildren have left for home to get dressed for trick or treating.

Here is Adalyn going as a Cat,  she calls herself ......  she's giving a little wink

I am waiting for the little ones to give out candy,  while waiting  -  here are a few shots of home.

flickering candle stuffed into flower arrangement

nice set of choppers he has

It's getting dark so I better get ready to give candy out

There is plenty more from where this came from

Happy Halloween

Flowers end

Sounds somewhat like a movie title for my post title.

The following shots are what is left of the seasons flowers.
Seems as though the colors are more vibrant now than they were in Summer.  The sun is not out as much to make them fade.

A picture of my wreath on my front door

You can see somewhat of a sunset reflecting in the glass
Nasturtiums on my side fence just started getting pretty about a month ago, much healthier now than in the spring and summer.
I pull off a bloom every time I walk by to eat,  tastes like cress salad to me.   Will miss the blooms in  salad.
The color is just as you see it.  Very vibrant.

Very few blooms left of the zinnias.   Below are a few that have been growing in pots

This one has a pretty autumn color to it,  orange and yellow hues.

The ones here are not as large as the ones growing in the pot.  I do think that epsom salt I watered them with in the pots made them grow healthier and prettier.

The color of these are my favorite.

I have to have my coleus
