Martha Washington Hotel and Spa

On the way home from Big Rock in TN. ,  we stopped in Abingdon Va.  to take a look at the Barter theatre and Martha Washington Hotel and Spa.
The Martha Washington Hotel and Spa - located in the Blue Ridge Highlands, In 1832 was originally built for a General, then later became a finishing school for girls.  The Martha Washington also served as a hospital during the Civil War.
After the war it was converted into a Womens College.   In 1935 it was again changed to a Hotel.
Seeing the Hotel was like stepping back in time to the 18th century.  Elegant furnishings, and beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.   Click on pictures to enlarge

Here are a few pictures

Spring blooms

Dogwoods are in bloom and some flowers.
Can see the pinks from the bedroom window

so pretty

bleeding heart, moles in ground killed most of it.

Azaleas should be blooming fully in a few days.
roses I dried from my bushes last year.

Fresh potatoes and celery along with   dried veggies from the garden last season.  The okra dried really well and I will dry much more of it this year.

A visit to Big Rock TN.

I took an 11 hour drive with Lynn (my sister) to visit my daughter and grandson .  She lives in a little valley between large hills or small mountains, my grandson calls them mountains.  I will post pics of her house tomorrow, we helped her paint her living and dining room.   She and her husband have some work to do, but the bones are good and it's only cosmetic work.
I noticed some homes in her neighborhood are built into the rock,  really neat looking.
We went to visit the "land between the lakes".   Beautiful lakes for fishing or boating.   Lots of little snakes ,  didn't like that a bit..
Found some pretty blue rock there,  Lynn spotted it first, then she and Seth really went to work trying to out do  the other.

Fixer upper

Beautiful country

Cant see them too well, but they are nesting Eagles.

TN. welcome center and fireplace with christmas lights

there were these pretty flower arrangements on the wall also.

I am still working on the floorcloth and so far here is what it looks like.  I dropped some green paint on the flower and now have to correct that.

Spring Pictures

Some pictures I took outside yesterday , a pretty Spring day.   Here is the picture of my volunteer Pansey , beautiful bloom.  They come back every year.

daffodils blooming in the woods, these are the ones I separated last year from my flower bed, because it was overcrowded.

I bought this primrose 3 years ago at Walmart and planted it outside and it always comes back.
The Crocus is a surprise,  don't know where it came from.

Lavender needs to be taken out of this pot,  going on the 3rd season.

I just thought the color of the moss was pretty growing on this broken cinderblock.

I am stenciling Magnolia blossoms on my floorcloth.

another picture of floorcloth.

Til next time,  Have a good day.
