Harpers Ferry and more

Many houses in Harpers Ferry were constructed in the 19th century.  Structures have been lived in, maintained and modernized. 
Since the war of 1812 the Upper Town Harpers Ferry has also been known as Camp Hill.
I felt like I was transported somewhere back in time in the historic Harpers Ferry.   Beautiful stone buildings,   Magnificent stone work.

The original church did not survive the Civil War.
The Camp Hill-Wesley United Methodist Churh
was rebuilt in upper town in 1869 with salvaged bricks from
the Armory that was destroyed.


If you get the close up , there were two pretty spring wreaths on the doors.

Harpers Ferry

Mom, Lynn and I took a little overnght visit to Harpers Ferry in W.Va., located in between the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.    Named after Robert Harper, a builder from Pa.,  he established a ferry and a grist mill

was built, the stone house he built is also here.   Harper's Ferry used to belong to the Old Dominion before the civil war.

George Washington had two arsenals located here.

What a change-a day makes

Yesterday was rainy but warm.  Today is overcast and windy with just a minor chill in the air.  I love fall, but I love all seasons,  the change does one good.   I put up my fall wreath today and planted some mums in pots.  The  Roses store near me had these HUGE 8 inch mums for 3 for $10.00.  I planted some in pots near the little slash of water in side yard.  I love the bright yellow and rust colored ones.  Will post some pictures of them soon.

Happy Monday - Labor Day

Hope everyone is having a day with NO LABOR involved. Plenty of good food, fun and just a relaxing day.   I was hoping to hear from Annette as we thought they may call or even come for a cookout, but didn't happen sorry to say.  Have fun Seth.
