---Hand extending from the heavens---- I took this picture while on Soloman's Island Md. in 2010. It stopped me cold for a few minutes.

Emerald Isle North Carolina vacation (pt 1)

We took a week in Emerald Isle N.C. with Son and family in the town of bogue.

The week zoomed too fast.  Some rain but didn't take away from being at the beach or pool time at the rental house.

There were three levels and from 3rd level the steps to observation deck. It was wonderful and I could feel it slightly sway some when wind was strong.     A great look out to the ocean.  We were set back a street, but the views were not obstructed as the homes were situated in a way to be able to take in views of ocean.  We heard the waves from deck when having coffee in morning and that was so pleasant a sound.

Golden Hour

Beach access was about 100 yards, and we did have a little walk-through sugar sand to get to the beach.  Afternoon walks were the best.  Although we know better than to go into the water at feeding time because of ocean life.
Husband taking off for a walk on the beach.
There were deer
and they liked to walk through the sand at the beach also

We were located at the point and had beautiful views of ocean and inlet especially from the observation deck

I don't know who the author of this quote is. I found it and I like it.

"Theres no place like home. Except the beach"

Dunes and plenty of them
We used the sifter through the sand and found so many shells

Camp Lejeune not too far away.

A few shells that were found while walking the beach one evening.  Like I said earlier, some of these were on the beach sand.  Not hard to find.  Granddaughter Genevieve found bags of them. Adalyn was with her finding them also.
The water was so clear that even standing in up to our waist almost, we could see bottom.

    1. There are many who live here year round and I mentioned to my husband that I thought it would be great to be able to live here. I like that it is not so crowded in this area.

  3. Betsy,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I did buy a bunch of bells on clearance after last Christmas before our Big Lot's closed...I do miss that store...Looks like you had a lovely vacation.... I have family that lives both in North and South Carolina...They are always preparing for storms and hurricanes and that would drive me crazy....Nice to visit but I would be afraid to live down there all the time...I hope you enjoy your weekend!!

    1. Thank you for visiting. I love visiting this area and especially Bogue. Some of these homes have been here a long while. I just love the beach and especially one that is not so commercialized. I love the mountains, but only to visit. You have a great week end too.
