just hot

Wow, some hot ones here.  Staying inside more except for early mornings and a ride to get out of the house.
We rode to Northern neck to see what was in an antique store the girls love to visit.  They always find some sort of treasure to bring home.  This time it was two bags of marbles and little old fashioned looking matchbox cars.
Before going into the store there were a couple of dinosaurs to have a picture taken with.

I didn't find anything I wanted.  The heat from the pavement was terrible.

We had lunch before heading home.

Back home inside,  I  stuffed more sachets with lavender buds harvested from my plants

Now to start the week end

My window box with Petunias still looking good

  1. That sounds like a lovely trip for you and the girls. I have driven through that area a lot going further down south. It is a pretty area. Very cute pictures with you and your family. Your lavender photo was lovely too, looks like you had a bumper crop, and it is a divine scent. Pretty photo of the petunias from inside. Take care with that heat. We have a high of 91 today.

  2. Hi Denise,
I have two huge old lavender plants that most would have pulled out but I can't. I have cut the to the wood and the green sprouts back, so I am keeping it. The porch was strong with scent and so were my hands with the oil after pulling the buds. Thank you for visiting and finally a thunderstorm coming. I hope it cools off where you are. We have had 91 here today also.

  3. Dearest Betsy,
Always lovely to take your grands on another educational trip!
Lovely summer weather for such outings and having lunch together for making memories and for bonding.
Love your petunias, they are very industrious in general.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Happy Friday Mariette, It's so hot and muggy. A thunderstorm is on it's way and we welcome it. Yes, we have to do as much with the girls as we can. They soon will want to be with friends more as they get older. We had a good time for sure. Hugs Betsy

  4. Betsy, the girls are certainly growing up. I love that shot out the window. So cool looking from inside out into the hot garden. It is too hot around here too and I am not tolerating it that well this year. I guess all things get worse, the older you get. Haha..Stay well..xxoJudy

  7. It's July in VA and it's so hot and so dry. What a lovely trip with the girls. Such a cute photo with the dinosaur. It's so nice you are able to have a outing and lunch too. The girls are getting so big. I'm always impressed with the fun you all have together. Stay cool during this heat wave.
