Cutting a few lavender wands. I take off some of the florets for cookies like shortbread and cake.
A pot by the garage of a lavender plant I started from a cutting few years ago.
These will dry and put in spice jar to use in baking. The florets this way taste sweeter and have more color than letting the whole stem dry and then shake off.
I took picture near the dogwood tree in front yard. The stalk on this one is pretty large. some of the limbs from the plant lying on the ground will hopefully root to make a new plant.
below is a flower I picked off of one to press
Looks almost like a lily
Gladiolus
These two pots at end of sidewalk have mums from last year. I put in a Carnival of Venice morning glory. It will run but I will clip it and may put the pot on a higher support for trailing vine.
around the lamp post is a mum that has been there for two seasons

Lavender
I am always making new plants by breaking off a tender top and pushing in dirt.
The one below has rooted. I have another in the pot that will be in another week or two.
Checking out other potted plants like my Hollyhock in pot for several years still going strong. New plants come up from seeds dropped.
Container blueberries
Got a few boysenberries from plant. Will be more next year as I will plant in ground instead of pot.
The summer crush hydrangea on left and the one on right I ordered from Home Depot, both are supposed to bloom all summer. Will see
A rose and I forget the name of the orange flowers that butterflies love
Thats it til next time
Your lavender is lovely. And you have Hollyhocks!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, and I am pushing it I am sure with the hollyhocks in pot. They've been there a while. I grew up with these flowers and having them reminds me of those days. Mama always had them at the stoop growing so tall and pretty.
