Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, Faith looks up -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just another drizzly rainy Monday

I will finish with Autumn today.  I have a few pictures.   Stores have had Halloween out for over a month.  I am not even thinking about that.  It's Autumn for heaven's sake. Maybe in about 10 days a few Halloween things.  I don't like a lot as it just runs into Thanksgiving, and I don't want to keep pulling stuff down to put up and take down again.

I will be out cutting more grass to tie together to add at porches.

I love cornstalks but didn't plant any this year.  So grass is the next best thing and cheaper.

Playing around with this church picture in ChatGPT
I took this picture in Millboro last week.  Millboro is in Bath County Virginia
few little ghosts

The ghosts did have eyes and mouths. I took them out. I like them better this way.

Way too many ghosts here

I was thinking about taking down the leaf garland design on the sidelights. They do fit for Autumn at the moment.

I used to burn real candles in the holders on both sides of front door but changed them out for battery ones on a timer.

My beautiful Asters. I love these flowers.

That's it for now.  Hopefully another post after tonight.

Few days away Lexington Va.

My sister and I took a trip to Rockbridge County Virgina for some Genealogical research.
We stayed in Natural Bridge Hotel one night.

Picture taken from our balcony to across street where you would purchase tickets to take in Natural Bridge
I am glad prior to being sold that I was able to take in the "Drama of Creation" that was inaugurated by Calvin Coolidge in 1927.  A night time light show.  I asked at the desk about this and was told that it wasn't being held anymore.  But the website visitroanokeva.com/events/illumination-of-the-bridge/48618/  says other wise.

The leaves had just started in some areas to change color and many dead leaves falling from trees.
Warm Springs in Bath county not far away.
Jefferson Pools have been restored and back in service.  Fed by Springs with temp 98 degrees F.  Loaded with minerals that are good for the  body.
Jefferson Pools in background restored.

Oakleaf Hydrangea

The trees have just started to turn in this area

Inside was this picture.  I like the Norman Rockwell style (it's what I call it anyway) I don't know who painted it.

Sitting on this sweet little porch looking out to the valley

A drive around Millboro to see the area my gr and gr gr grandparents lived.  This had to be hard living in the early 1800's.  No roads, just cart paths and homes few and far between.  Freezing winters and miserable hot summers is what I was thinking while taking in this very pretty area.
Old Millboro church
Old steps leading to church.  This place is closed and no trespassing sign on door.

This pumpkin was sitting on a table in records room.  It looks like lace is glued to it and then sprayed.
I thought it pretty.

Til next time

Few days away

We took a two-night stay on the Rivah as we call it on the Rappahannock.  Virginia has some wonderful waterways, and this is one of them for sure. Our rental consisted of two structures.  One an efficiency with kitchenette, bath and bedroom with t.v.

the one on the left, efficiency and on the right was a structure with widows that could be opened for breezes that felt so good in the evening.  A sectional sofa, large screen t.v. and it was of course air conditioned and heated.  This one called 'The Crab Shack' I loved for reading, and napping.

efficiency

The crab shack a few steps away from our efficiency and I loved this area for reading in the evening.

One of two books I have going.

Interesting life I must say.  I watched 'On Golden Pond' for the second time after many years and wanted to read about Hepburn.

Hanging from ceiling in the Crab Shack.  So pretty with sun shining through it.
Driftwood art in corner.
Ideas for some that I have picked up from beach visits.

This is one hanging in corner of our efficiency
Steve so enjoyed the river in Kayak.

Eating out a few times at a restaurant not too far from here
I had one dinner of fish and chips

River watching from these chairs along with morning coffee.

A firepit near the river with seating
Storm coming

We'll return.

That's it for now
