Few days away

8 days ago, we took a little two-night, 3 days get away to Chincoteague Island in Va.

So good it felt to get away.  I did take a walk in the sand which I felt for a few days afterward, but I know I used muscles in the TKR leg for the good.  Getting better and over several humps.

So nice there on Assateague beach listening to the sound of the waves crashing to shore.

Several tunnels to get to Chincoteague Island and it costs 15 dollars each way which it's worth it not taking the DC route. Less traffic the way we went and much more pleasant a drive.

We traveled the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel over and under water ways.
Beautiful views of Chesapeake Bay spanning a little over 17 miles.
One of the 7 engineering wonders of the modern world.
Leads to a peninsula that intersects the land and takes us to Chincoteague

Miles more and finally Chincoteague
Passed Wallops Island too

We stayed at the Refuge Inn.  It has a pool and sauna.  Nice Inn.  Breakfast brought to the rooms.  Very clean and well appointed rooms and such nice caretakers.  We will be going back soon.

Nice balcony upstairs where we were.

Steve had to get to the beach to dune sit.
Gorgeous and clean Assateague beach.
Well taken care of
Nice clean restrooms on the beach
There was a heavy storm here and the dunes were taken out some

Love the beautiful horses and ponies and Assateague Beach!

food and flowers

Warmer today.  I see the leaf buds on some of the trees.  Still winter and anything can change.

A few roses for Valentines Day

I must say I am a little tired of the sofa I have had since 2000.
I would like something else besides red.  Maybe more of a  modern streamlined sofa with a couple of swivel chairs at the picture window.  I can always dress up or down with a more modern style.

A dinner sent to us from Daughter in law Miranda
So very good and such a sweet surprise.  Especially since we are not getting out much.  I have not been cleared to drive yet since surgery, and I am ready to bust out.

real Italian food
The salad was loaded

I had chicken parmesan and Steve had Lasagna.  Didn't get a picture of his because he dug in way too fast.

To finish off we had lemon shortbread cookies.

I have been working on my beaded ship picture.  Not liking this one too much.  Still have to finish it though.

I am looking for a place to fix this Santa.  The battery compartment is corroded from being negligent in taking the batteries out for storage.  I wonder if it can be fixed to play music and move again?  Just had to put it out there.

Monks and some Ice

Leaving Physical Therapy today we got a glimpse of the Monks making their way into Ashland Va.  Earlier in their journey in Dayton Texas, two Monks were injured when a car hit them resulting in one having leg amputated. He is recuperating.

They along their way are stopping at state capitals, historic landmarks and communities sharing their message of reflection.  A 2300 mile walk thru Ashland with a rest stop at Randolph Macon Campus.

Some snow pictures
Granddaughters helping shovel ice from porch door along with Opa

Looks like Phil the large ground hog saw his shadow which in Pennsylvania could be six more weeks of bad weather for them.  Not sure if a groundhog saw a shadow in my state.  I say we will probably have six more weeks of bad weather here anyway.

Genevieve had to get the old sleigh out and slide down to creek on ice

Bye for now

Homebound

Feeling on the mend but still swelling in the knee and leg.  Exercises help somewhat with plenty of ice packs.

TKR surgery Jan 8th.  Glad it's over with.  Haven't taken down all decorations. At least there is something pretty to look at.

Husband makes sure of breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I haven't had any type of appetite until a day or so ago.

Take out and I love Panera harvest soup.  My favorite.  Tonight, dinner was from a local eatery of B.L.T.  wrap with sweet potato chips.  Will have more tomorrow as I couldn't eat it all.

A slice of pizza was good too.

Besides P.T. during the week, I have Rom Tech at my house, and it keeps me moving, it's monitored by my doctor.   I have it for about 30 days

Lying here watching Lewis and Clark documentary and so very interesting by candle glow.
That's all I have for now.
Hope to be up and around soon for more.  Supposed to be snow showers Sunday.
I am praying so.  I love snow.
