Hot hot hot

Muggy too.  Staying inside mostly.  The air is so heavy it gives me a headache when I stay out too long.

I am getting so I don't even care if all flowers die.  The zinnias are winners for flower garden with me.  The Panicle hydrangea does so well in this heat also.

Table with store purchased carnations from my husband.  Gold dust plant cutting from my yard placed in vase with hydrangeas also from my yard.

Gladiolus in my den window is so pretty. The coral pink ones are blooming now but haven't a picture of them yet.
I love this candy stripe Zinnia.  I have several of these blooming along with a variety of others.
They along with Panicle Hydrangeas withstand the heat very well.  Petunias do to as long as they are in part shade and constantly watered.

Each one has different candy stripe markings.

Red Crepes grew taller by two feet it seems this year.  I will trim back that side limb I think but I don't trim like some do.  I like the natural shape and just trim if it needs it like a few unruly limbs.  I like to keep the new sprouts cut at bottom, but too hot to mess with those now for me anyway.

Love my swamp hibiscus

We are both reading on these stay inside hot days.  Book shown is one my husband is reading.  Harkening back to some fond memories for him when he lived there.   I ordered this book for him online from Seashell city along with different colors of sea glass for me to craft with.  It's not sea glass from the sea but tumbled colored glass. Still tumbled by sand and water, but a shorter time and not ocean water.

A must visit to Seashell city for some fine souvenirs, mostly for me.

From my shell collection of Emerald Isle. Found while visiting there the first week of June.
I placed one shell on top of another shell and took a close up.  I copied on photo paper from my printer and framed.  It's sitting on my table in den.

Shell on shell
This is it for today
Hope everyone is staying cool and inside during the hottest part of the days.

  1. Your landscaping is so beautiful and has such lovely colors! I am not sure I would be that resilient as a plant in this weather!

    1. Thank you so much. My veggies are not good this year. A waste. This weather has been just awful hot and muggy for us this year! My husband always says "it's summer" it's supposed to be. Well o.k. but as I am getting older and older I tolerate it less. Stay cool.

  2. Your garden is so lovely. What a great variety of colors and different blooms you have decorating your yard. It's been really hot here, too. I do love summer, but some days, it's just too much.
