Good bye August

Yes, goodbye to August but not Summer just yet.   Autumn does not begin until September 22nd.

I enjoyed fresh peaches from my area found at our local markets.

Peach crisp is a favorite of mine.

The easiest and tastiest dessert.  I left the peels on as I like them, either way really the crisp is good.

about a 1/2 cup each brown sugar and flour. 1/2 cup and just a little more of fast cooking oats, cinnamon, almost a stick of butter because it's how much I like in the crumble.  Vanilla.

I use no exact recipe on this one.  Been making it forever.

Peaches tossed in a  little sugar

I need to make some fresh peach ice cream while they are still here in my area.

I scattered carrot seeds in my planter.  They are short but sweet.

The shadows the way they fall along with cool mornings and evenings tell me that Autumn is nearing. The bees I do not hear buzzing past me. Night sounds of summer have just about stopped.

The only flowers I have still doing well are zinnias and a few petunias and morning glories that I managed to keep watered. The rest of my flowers in pots I am not managing anymore. Time for them to be thrown out.
My tomatoes didn't do well this year.  Thankful for our local growers that I purchase some from.   I will miss having my fried orange or red tomatoes and am no fan of the green ones as they are not flavorful enough for me. I see where some fry them green and then dipping them into some type of sauce. Not for me.  I love them fried in salads and BLT's.

I took a ride to Cold Harbor area in my county. This picture near to the area I was born. The spot where I am standing is where my aunt used to have a home.  Such a beautiful evening.  Memories.

🎝 See you in September 🎜

  1. I have never been a green tomato fan either. Our cucumbers are done and we miss those salads already! We still have some tomatoes. Small, though. I did make some salsa with them today.

    1. I wish I had more tomatoes. Homemade salsa is the best.

  2. Hi Betsy. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Summer yet. We had very dry and hot weather here July and August. These cooler days are welcomed. Peach Crisp is a favourite of mine also. Happy September.

  5. It does appear that fall is on its way with the cooler mornings and evenings! We usually get one more hot spell before summer really ends! We've been enjoying summer produce and the peaches too. Nice dessert and Happy September.
