a day out

A few weeks ago out with the grands to visit Great Aunt Wanda and Gr Uncle Karls home.    A good ride for us to get out and enjoy the day of partly sunshine.

I am sure these pots are loaded with pretty flowers now after being about a couple of weeks since we were there last.

Archway with yellow Iris blooming and little ducks on the side.

Adalyn and Genevieve have to check them out for sure.

good place to sit a spell on  the shady front porch

A nice bench to rest and a shovel placed in case ya get bored and feel like doing some digging.

I think of cabbage roses when I see these gorgeous Peonies.

Such pretty lillies as they have a wax type shine and a glorious color.

along side of lillies are a pink ground cover whose name escapes me

In the distance is a dry river bed

Keith digs river rock up from the woodsy area of the property and brings them up in a wheelbarrow to make the dry bed and line walkways.

All I can say is that there's lots of stone moved here by hand

nice garden area with broccoli and lettuce

We enjoyed this day and now off to see what is possibly still alive in my yard

Oh yes - the next day we had to have an early dinner out with the girls
It was sooooo goooood !

  1. The peonies are beautiful as are those lovely girls. I must admit to missing my garden a little, but we have plans for our little cottage it will just take time.

  2. Your granddaughters have such lovely names! It's wonderful that you get to see them often--that coming from someone whose granddaughters are 3 hours away! Your aunt and uncle have a lovely yard and that peony is amazing.

  3. It looks like a nice visit was enjoyed by all. You can tell your relatives enjoy gardening and it shows in their pretty gardens. I really like the stone walkways. ♥

  4. Dearest Betsy,
Thank you so very much for your visit and meaningful comment on {MEMORIAL DAY - FREEDOM HAS ITS PRICE} post from May 29, 2011!
Indeed we owe it to the next generations for understanding this!
Love the hard work of moving those rocks for making a dry bed. WISH our soil here in Georgia would be as fertile as yours, looking at such peonies and veggies growing there! It is too hot here, also for peonies... SAD.
Love the archway too, our rose trellis is now covered by our white Eden roses; so lovely.
Sending you hugs and enjoy this special weekend together.
