Shrine Mont ......

The Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration and conference center for the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, consecrated in 1925.
From the mountain that surrounds it each one  of it's stones was pulled by horse or rolled by local people.   Built by Rev. Lee Woodward in 1924 and 1925, after serving as a medical missionary to China ,  he retired here to Orkney Springs..
A dug out stone used by the Indians to grind corn is the baptismal font.

  3. What a fine "repurposing" of the stone mill into a baptismal font!
